A group of 14 workers of Inno Packaging Co. Ltd. (located at Binh Thuan Hamlet, Thuan Giao Commune, Thuan An District) claimed unreasonable sacking of 35 workers in two days of December 13 and 14.
In a notice dated on December 13, Mrs. Nguyen Thi
Hong Nga – Director of Inno Packaging Co. Ltd. signed to terminate labor
contracts citing reasons that those workers have been neglecting in their work
and failed to meet production requirements as well as violated leaving rules.
The notice also included warnings about more lay-offs to those who violate
regulations of the company.
However, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Mai, who was also named in the sacking list, said that she made no mistakes during her working contract from June 2006. And, she was surprised by the notice to the general without to specific workers. Upon seeing the notice, the affected workers have requested to meet the company’s director for further inquiries; however, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Nga refused to meet them. As a result, the only notice Mai received for herself was from the company’s Labor Union which told her to receive her last salary.
On December 23, representative of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs office of Thuan An Labor Union has claimed illegal sacking after a working session with 9 out of 14 workers appealing. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Nga also admitted her mistakes in sacking the mentioned 35 workers without much conformity with the laws. The labor managing body of Thuan An district has requested the company to accept the labors back to work and ensure involved policies. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Nga agreed to ideas proposed by negotiators.
The event may be considered as warnings when in many enterprises in Binh Duong are facing labor lack. Therefore, to keep them from fleeing out, enterprises should ensure attractive policies to stabilize their production.
