Over the past time, Binh Duong vigorously aroused the spirit of solidarity among locals, helping each other in economic development, sustainable poverty reduction and sharing efforts in building new-style rural and civilized urban areas through the campaign of the “Day for the Poor”. All contributed to successfully realizing the local tasks on socio-economic development, national defense and security.
After 15 years of realizing the campaign of “the Day for the Poor”, provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and member organizations mobilized more than VND1.16trillion to support needy households to rise up out of poverty. They attached special importance to upholding the spirit of solidarity among locals, helping each other in economic development and sustainable poverty reduction via support programs on nurslings, breeding animals, sci-tech transfer in cultivation and animal husbandry, vocational training, job introduction…
As of late 2015, the whole province built and upgraded 7,549 “great unity”, charity houses with a total expense of more than VND68billion. Since 2002, provincial Fund for the Poor has also supported more than VND6.5billion for the poor to enjoy medical examination and treatment.
With the above support activities, provincial Fatherland Front Committees, Mobilization Boards of the “Day for the Poor” at all levels and member organizations assisted 32,908 households to escape from poverty over the past years.
Locals also made contributions to infrastructure construction such as making rural roads, dredging canals, carrying out urban rejuvenation, building concrete alleys…
