Phu Giao district has just forwarded a ceremony to launch the first Day for the Poor of 2011.
Vo Van Ba, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee said that the whole district has so far had 2,167 poor households under the new poverty line or 10.78% of total. At the ceremony, the district’s Steering Board of the Day for the Poor called for donors, businesses and people from all walks of life to give support for the poor, helping them overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
As a result, more than VND2,1bln was subscribed to the district’s Fund for the Poor. The money will be used to build unity houses, present gifts and offer help to the poor across the district, especially take care for the lives of the poor on the upcoming Tet festival.
