Bau Bang district’s Red Cross Society, on January 7, held a conference to review its activities in 2020.
Under the campaign of “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims”, the district’s Red Cross Society last year mobilized and donated more than VND1.5billion to the poor and Agent Orange victims; mobilized 86 organizations, individuals to offer monthly help to 82 humanitarian addresses; maintained “charity kitchen” models with 19,000 free meals offered to the poor; built 2 “red cross” houses…The society’s total value for social charity activities last year was more than VND4.6billion.
Especially, the district’s Red Cross Society successfully organized the first “Humanitarian market-day” of the district, offering practical help to people affected by Covid-19 pandemic. The society and its branches also supported salt intrusion and flood-affected people in the Mekong Delta and central regions; visited and presented gifts to ethnic minority pupils and households in the border communes of Binh Phuoc province.
At the conference, the district’s Red Cross Society offered help of the last 6 months of 2020 to humanitarian addresses; launched emulation movements and signed emulation agreements of 2021; launched the “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” program 2021.
On this occasion, the district’s People’s Committee honored 5 collectives, 9 individuals with excellent achievements in the local Red Cross movements last year; awarded the mementoes “For the humanitarian cause” 2020 to 14 individuals.
