Over the past days, overseas Vietnamese have flocked to homeland to enjoy the traditional lunar New Year (Tet) festival. Ha Noi, HCM city and other provinces, cities nationwide have organized get-togethers for overseas Vietnamese and organized tours to the country’s key works for them. Whilst, overseas Vietnamese in Binh Duong have been invited to attend a get-together to be held on the evening of Jan.25 at provincial People’s Committee.

Elatedness about homeland’s change
These days, the Tan Son Nhat Air Port in Ho Chi Minh City is packed with overseas Vietnamese returning home for Tet.
Among these overseas Vietnamese, many have homeland in Binh Duong. Some said that they have felt elated about the change of the country, especially of Binh Duong.
Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, a Vietnamese-German with homeland in Di An district said: “I return home at a time when the 11th National Party Congress was taking place in Ha Noi. Through the mass media, I have felt that the country is developing day by day”.
Whilst, Ong Thi Lan, an overseas Vietnamese from Canada said that although living in Canada for many years, Binh Duong homeland has always gained the top position in her heart. It’s development has occurred too quickly.
According to Trinh Chau Pha, a Vietnamese-American, the overseas Vietnamese community has always been pride of Vietnam. Especially, Vietnam’s renewal policies have helped overseas Vietnamese have confidence in the sound leadership of the Party.
With the above pride, the overseas Vietnamese community will try to make contributions to the cause of building Binh Duong in particular and Vietnam in general, added Mrs.Pha.
Continuing to mobilize overseas Vietnamese to look toward homeland
Overseas Vietnamese have over time made contributions to the common development of Binh Duong province. In addition to overseas remittance, overseas Vietnamese have actively got involved in social charity activities. They visited and donated gifts to hundreds of poor households across the province.
So far, they have also spent more than VND2trillion on more than 200 investment projects, mostly in TDM town, Di An and Thuan An districts. Le Viet Dung, deputy director of provincial Department of Planning and Investment said that overseas Vietnamese in the province has got involved in many investment fields of transport, fertilizer production, food processing, animal husbandry, woodwork processing…Also according to Mr.Dung, their investment projects have worked effectively thanks to the province’s favorable investment climate.
It is known that Binh Duong province has always paid attention to overseas Vietnamese and called for them to look toward homeland via the annual get-togethers. The province has also reminded overseas Vietnamese to educate their descendants who are born abroad to preserve Vietnam’s cultural identities and contribute to the homeland’s development.
Today, Jan.25, provincial People’s Committee organizes a get-together for Vietnamese overseas or Viet kieu to celebrate Tet, which expects to lure more than 200 overseas Vietnamese.
At the get-together, provincial leaders will inform overseas Vietnamese about the province’s socio-economic performance in 2010, the results of the Party Congresses at all levels and the 11th National Party Congress, the Party and State’s preferential policies for them. The get-together will also praise overseas Vietnamese’s contributions and call for them to further look toward homeland…
