Damages brought to Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai Provinces in recent landmark flood have been estimated by be double the amount caused to Binh Dinh and Phu Yen in 2009.
The typhoons and floods have taken so many lives and properties of local people. We have to witness the pain and loss in the land those very days.
Binh Duong Newspaper reporter was timely present at the central of the floods in Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai to inform of the damages caused to local people.
Tremendous damages
On November 15, 16, and 17, the flood blown away countless properties saved up poor people in middle land of Vietnam. In Tay Son of Binh Dinh Province, thousands of cattle and poultries were drawn away by the flowing flood.

Not able to hold back tears, Mrs. Nguyen Thong, Deputy Head of Tay Son District People’s Committee Secretariat burst into tears to receive hundreds of distress calls from local people in communes.
In the morning of November 16, water started to retreat when Binh Duong flood relief team accompanied by us got access to previously blocked-up and destructed sites in Tay Son. Fear was among us to see the rubbles and debris across communes of Tay Giang, Tay Xuan, Tay Phu, Binh Thanh and quarters of Phu Xuan, Phu Van, and Hoa Lac of Phu Long Townlet.
Crops in those places were even submerged totally to leave the local owners total loss.
At Phu Hoa Village of Tay Xuan Commune in Tay Son, we hardly restrained the tears to see to Mrs. Do Thi Bich Nhung, 65, hurrying to retract rice from mud hopefully to retrieve food for post-flooding days.
“Never before have I been in such flooding. Live stocks are gone and no rice is left. How can I live on? Really do not know what to eat!” said her.
Mr. Nguyen Ba from Nhon Phuc Commune of Binh Dinh Town said in tears: “I have taken great care of the pigs to be sold for Tet. But now, everything was gone.”
“That night, the water ruined the house floor and my child was nearly gone to the water had her mother not catch him up and I was timely to help them. We were unharmed but how can we live on with the house being collapsed any time,” he added while pointing to the collapsing house after the flood.

A house is renovated by people after the flood
Damages caused by prolonged rains and floods were tremendous to Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai Provinces.
According to newest updates, Binh Dinh had up to 90,095 collapsed houses in the flood, 17 people lost and killed while thousand hundreds of crops were destroyed and traffic roads split up.
Preliminary statistics showed that 13 people were killed and lost and 19 were injured in Quang Ngai Province in a tremendous flood that destroyed over 9,000 tons of seeds and 18,793 tons of foods.
In Quang Ngai Province, 203 houses were collapsed leaving many families in total loss and tremendous difficulties.
As sharing needed
As chain and similar reactions through time of people in the middle land of Vietnam, ever since November 17 as the water retreated, people were getting up through the loss.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong from Nhon Phuc of Binh Dinh Town showed us the shelves of dried up rice noodles at her front yard and said: “We have made timely evacuation, thus the rice noodles was damped only. For the sunny days like today, we shall hung rice noodles to be dried up as our food reserve.”
Meantime at Village 2 of Binh Nghi Commune in Tay Son, we saw Mr. Tran Van Hien hurrying to fix his tractor to remedy the covering mud and destructed sites by water on his farm.
As informed by Hien, the earlier the tractor was put into use the more helpful it was to the upcoming Winter-Spring crops.
On our relief trip across districts and towns in Binh Dinh Province, we could see common acts of kindness by Youth’s League members and volunteers cleaning up the sites and reinforcing dykes.
People in flood-hit areas were trying their best to regain after the.
Mr. Ho Sy Dung, Deputy Chair of Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Dinh Province, said: “Damages were tremendous. We had no way but to call for help from all sources. At current stage, live hood of people in flood-hit areas was totally harsh.”
By the end of November 18, Binh Dinh Province has received great support and help from localities nationwide.
Binh Dinh BIDV was timely to donate thousands of relief presents to people in flood-hit areas. Binh Dinh Province was also timely to support each victim family VND 3-5million.
Loss can be calculated in figures but pain remains unaccounted for. And, they are in urgent needs of help and supports from every part of the nation.
