Climate change has pushed agricultural production to harder situations which seemed to be more responsive in Binh Duong Province.

Climate change has ocurred in various regions of Vietnam. As for Binh Duong Province, climate change has caused drammatical damages to agricultural production due to off-seasonal rains, ice rain, unpredictable cyclone, and prolong heatwaves.

In 2013, Binh Duong Province witnessed ice rain and off-seasonal turbulance at the end of dry season and beginning of rainy season.
Farmers have been perflexed by more pandemic brought about by climate change, making the prevention tumbled.
In the beginning of 2013, rice planters in Binh Duong Province have been troubled by faster leave worm out break, prompting Provincial Plant Protection Division to implement urgent measures for the rice plants.
Climate change has also affected agricultural production. Mr. Do Huu Dung, a farmer at Chanh Hung Hamlet of Bach Dang Commune in Tan Uyen District said that the rice crops have been harder on him than before due to disruptive weather with more risky worms and diseases.
“We are now following VietGAP – the better procedures than ours and our freedom from weather and climate,” he added.
Not like 3 years ago, Corynespora on rubber trees has been under control thanks to effective treatment compounds. Corynespora can cause death to rubber trees if no right chemicals are administered in changing weather and climate.
“From the beginning of the year, we guide farmers to administer the chemicals to eliminate Corynespora at the first leave changing period of rubber trees, thus, the disease has put under control,” said Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai, Head of Phu Giao District Plant Protection Sub-division.

Farmers are now switching from RRIV 4 rubber trees to other kinds with more strength against wind turbulances brought about by climate change. The devasting wind has long been threatening the plantation of rubber trees.
To be more responsive
Climate change causes not only visually short-tem but also unpredictably long-term effects. Thus, prediction has been the major measure to response to climate change, prompting the forecasting agencies to enhance their work of accuracy.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Head of Binh Duong Provincial Plant Protection Division informed that his division has actively implemented measures to response to climate change and protection of plants in the province.
Thanks to the well-preparation, damages have been mitigated.
For the time to come, the Division shal offer training courses to equip the farmers with more measures. Concurrently, the Division shall implement specific measures on specific plants.
Climate change has long been the matter of concerns in agricultural production of current stage in Binh Duong Province despite their fewer farmer population and position in economic structure.
Agriculture in Binh Duong Province is developing into forms of high-tech application, thus, without measures to response to climate change, the development shall be limited.
Functional agencies are now required to support farmers to response to climate change effectively.
