Every time Tet approaches, the province’s mass organizations focus on taking care of workers’ lives. On the occasion of the 2011 Tet festival, Binh Duong Daily had an interview with Ho Phuong Nam, chief of provincial Business Bloc’s Youth Union about activities welcoming Tet for workers who cannot return home for Tet.

What was your assessment of the bloc’s task of gathering youths last year?
According to statistics, the whole province is now home to more than 11,500 licensed investment projects, including nearly 2,000 FDI ones. These FDI projects have absorbed more than 650,000 immigrant laborers, 80% of whom are young people.
Provincial Business Bloc’s Youth Union now has 83 affiliates with more than 4,000 unionists, comprising of 27 non-State ones. Although facing difficulties in the task of gathering young workers at State-non companies, the bloc’s Youth Union this year will actively open training courses on specialist skills for its officials and realize a lot of action programs to lure the involvement of young workers…
What did the bloc’s Youth Union made to improve workers’ material and spiritual lives last year?
The bloc’s Youth Union last year paid more attention to social charity activities. Particularly, the bloc’s Youth Union built and upgraded over 35 compassion and gratitude houses worth more than VND900mln. The Youth Unions of the bloc’s Office and Phu Giao district jointly visited and donated 50 gifts to former youth union officials and disadvantaged families.
The bloc’s Youth Union and its affiliates also visited and presented gifts to needy workers; gave 17,000 books, textbooks and 3,000 learning tools for poor-but-excellent pupils, workers’ offspring and children in flood-hit areas; opened 9 classes on computer for more than 580 unionists and young workers; organized cultural-sports activities for young workers….
How has the bloc’s Youth Union planned to organize activities welcoming Tet for young workers?
The bloc’s Youth Union has planned to visit and donate 1,000 gifts to young workers who cannot return home for Tet.
In addition to donating Tet gifts, organizing art performance programs, …, the bloc’s Youth Union this Tet will hold special Tet programs named “Ngay tet sum vay”, “Ngay doan vien” for alien young workers at province-based industrial parks of My Phuoc, Song Than, South Tan Uyen…
