The 61st anniversary of Vietnamese Physicians’Day this year (Feb.27, 1955-Feb.27, 2016) is also a chance for Binh Duong’s healthcare sector to pay tribute to outstanding physicians during the past 40 years. From a locality with poor healthcare after national liberation, Binh Duong has so far reached considerable changes in this field.
Under the instruction, support of provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee, the province’s healthcare sector have gained strong changes, actively contributing to the local socio-economic development cause. According to statistics from provincial Department of Health, the whole province now has a total of 6,550 health workers, 4.4 times higher than 1976. There are 33,66 health workers per 1,000 people and 1,315 physicians, 28.5 times higher than 1976. So far, 100% of communes in the province have been doctorized. The province’s healthcare sector has always received timely attention and investment ranging from material facilities to human resource recruitment and training with a public health system strongly consolidated and developed. There are 3 hospitals and 11 preventative health units at provincial level; 9 health centers at district level; 17 regional general clinics and 91 health stations at communal level with good material facilities and modern health equipment. Many hi-quality healthcare techniques have also been carried out at these health facilities.
The province has just upgraded provincial General Hospital into a first-class health unit and is building a new general hospital with 1,500 beds. Provincial Preventative Health Center has also reached national standards on preventative health. In 2015, more than 90% of communes in the province met national standards on health. All public health facilities here also joined health insurance, facilitating locals’medical treatment and examination.
Meritorious physician Le Hung, former Deputy Director of provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, who made contributions to the local healthcare sector said that in any periods, physicians must memorize famous physician Le Huu Trac’s 9 teachings in medical practice and 12 regulations on medical ethnics and behavioural rules issued by the Ministry of Health to raise their responsibility to be able to better take care of patients.
The province’s healthcare sector also always promoted the campaign “Studying and following late President’s exemplary morals” over the past years.
On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee commended and rewarded 62 individuals who made contributions to the local healthcare sector during the past 40 years; 75 physicians were also awarded the mementoes “For people’s health” and 13 individuals and 1 collectives received the certificates of merit of the Prime Minister.
It is known that during the past 40 years, collectives and individuals of the local healthcare sector were awarded 28 first, second and third-class Labor Medals; 487 certificates of merit of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and provincial People’s Committee; 22 emulation banners of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and provincial People’s Committee. There were also 80 meritorious physicians, 1 national-level emulation soldier and 123 provincial-level emulation soldier.
According to Luc Duy Lac, Director of provincial Department of Health, the province’s healthcare sector will further mobilize the entire society to take part in public healthcare, strengthen human resource training, mobilize resources to build and upgrade material facilities at the local health units while creating advantageous conditions for them to cater locals’demand for healthcare.
