He likes pheasants because of their nice plumage and song. He bought several couples of pheasants from his friend in the Northern province of Ha Nam and collected documents and books about the animal. The pheasant does not incubate their eggs, so he mixes their eggs with chicken eggs to have chickens incubate. After that he purchased an incubator and built a solid breeding facility. He has so far possessed 80 pheasants.
Aside from breeding the animals for business, he has offered chicks for market. After about 8 months of breeding, a mother pheasant can lay 70-80 eggs per year. At present, pheasant egg’s price ranges from VND30,000-40,000 per egg whilst chick prices at over VND150,000 per couple and mature chicks price at VND1.5-2mil per couple. His clients are mainly ornamental bird lovers, tourism sites, zoos.
He shared that the most important thing of breeding pheasant is to know how to choose breeding chicks. Therefore, buyers should choose chicks at 3-5 months old.
With initial successes, his pheasant farm often welcomes numerous farmers who learn about the high economic model.
