Phu Chanh mental health hospital will become a disease control center

On the afternoon of May 4, provincial health sector had a survey at the facility of mental health hospital in Tan Uyen city’s Phu Chanh ward (photo).

The delegation found that the hospital’s material facilities are still quite good, which can be effectively used for preventive medicine activities. According to members of the delegation, preventive medicine activities have a lot of equipment attached. They cannot operate in the field, so it takes time to survey, appraise and evaluate all the space so as not to waste material facilities. The province’s health sector is expected to advise provincial leaders on assigning Phu Chanh mental health hospital to provincial Center for Disease Control to organize the implementation of professional and technical activities. If being approved by provincial leaders, this place will become a disease control center with the function of disease prevention for the whole province, with the largest scale in the region.

It is known that during the 4th Covid-19 outbreak, the mental health hospital was the facility for treating Covid-19 patients on the 3rd floor very effectively. After the pandemic, in order to convert the hospital’s functions to suit the new situation, provincial Department of Health planned to put the hospital into use as soon as possible. Prior to that, the province’s health sector repeatedly converted the facility's functions to suit each period. Currently, the sector is planning and rearranging the province’s entire healthcare network with an in-depth investment policy to diversify medical examination and treatment services, improve the quality of healthcare for people both in the two fields of treatment and prevention.
