To improve the quality of NRC criteria
With a low starting point, people’s lives faced many difficulties, but at present, the face of communes in Phu Giao district changes considerably.
According to Vo Van Loi, Chairman of An Binh Commune People's Committee, since the district implemented NRC program, the commune's economy has so far changed markedly. A prominent result is that agricultural production in the area is modernized; people confidently apply high technologies into farming and breeding process; There are many high-tech models that bring high benefits. In addition, the commune's infrastructure is significantly improved, especially roads, electricity, lighting, medical stations, schools ... to meet people needs. In 2018, the commune's per capita income reached VND51 million. After reaching NRC standard, this commune has focused on leading and directing to maintain and improve NRC criteria.
Phuoc Sang commune was recognized as NRC commune and is currently investing in improving NRC criteria. Tran Trung Tin, Chairman of Phuoc Sang Commune People's Committee, said that in recent years, the commune had invested in NRC and upgraded roads to facilitate people’s transport. Currently transport system in this area is complete; local leaders regularly conduct surveys to have annual maintenance and upgrading plans. Roads in the commune are 100% hardened. Electricity system was invested and upgraded; even low-voltage grid system in remote areas was also upgraded, thereby improving the quality of electricity use for people.
On economic aspect, Phuoc Sang commune well implemented production development solutions in the area, helped to creating jobs, increasing income, and reducing poverty in the commune. Thus, in 2018, the commune's average income per capita reached VND50 million; The number of poor households according to provincial criteria is 8, accounting for 0.82% (down 96 households compared to 2011).
Striving to meet NRC standards
To implement National Target Program on NRC, Phu Giao district has now 10/10 communes (except Phuoc Vinh town) that were recognized to meet NRC standards and are aiming to become an advanced and model NRC commune. Over nearly 8 years of NRC, Phu Giao mobilized nearly VND12,583 billion to invest in infrastructure and social welfare, of which businesses contributed over VND1,057 billion, people contributed over VND508 billion. In addition, the people in the district also donated lands to build markets, health centers; donated trees, crops, assets attached to land to build roads...
In recent years, infrastructure in rural areas of Phu Giao district has received investments, contributing to boosting local socio-economic situation, social security and order is stabilized, people’s lives are improved. The district has now 133 poor households according to the province's criteria (accounting for 0.59% total number of households in the district), 820 near-poor households according to the province's criteria (accounting for 3.67%), and 310 poor households of social protection (accounting for 1.39%).
Doan Van Dong, Chairman of Phu Giao District People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the district would continue to build a beautiful and civilized NRC areas, proceed to achieve advanced NRC standards and a number of model NRC communes. This would help the district to build more and more modern, synchronous socio-economic infrastructure, shift economic restructuring and organize reasonably production activities; and combine NRC with economic restructuring, ensuring social security.
