*36 scholarships awarded to poor-but-excellent pupils
Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society yesterday held a conference to review its activities at district-based schools in the 2012 and 2013 academic year and present 36 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils.
In the 2012 and 2013, the district’s Red Cross Society branches at schools well realized many programs with more than VND1.8bln. Accordingly, they presented 712 gifts to poor people with a total expense of more than VND90mln; mobilized organizations and individuals to award 192 scholarships worth more than VND80mln to poor-but-excellent pupils; raised nearly VND70mln to provincial Fund for the Poor; launched the movement of “raising piggybank” among teachers and pupils with more than VND71mln saved; supported more than VND24mln for poor-but-excellent pupils to buy bicycles…
On this occasion, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society awarded 36 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to poor-but-excellent pupils at district-based primary and secondary schools. 5 collectives and 10 individuals were also awarded the certificates of merit of the district’s People’s Committee for their excellent achievements in the movements of the local Red Cross Society in the 2012 and 2013 academic year.
