Under the campaign of “Each organization, individuals should stick to a humanitarian address”, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Societies at all levels actively called for organizations, individuals, agencies, units, businesses and people from all strata to join hands in offering help to the local poor people.

Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society offers gifts to the poor and Agent Orange victims
Dang Xuan Dan, Chairman of An Thai communal Red Cross Society said that the campaign has aroused the spirit of responsibility, “mutual love, mutual affection” and solidarity of the whole society. The whole commune is now home to 7 poor households, 4 lonely elderly people, 16 orphans, 10 Agent Orange victims and 90 households with disabled members. Hence, the society has actively mobilized the entire society to take part in supporting these targeted people.
Over the past 9 months, the district’s Red Cross Society also mobilized, awarded 892 scholarships worth more than VND568million to poor-but-excellent pupils; built and upgraded 4 “red cross” houses; supported rice, gifts for 10,789 cases with a total value of more than VND1.6billion. In addition, the society mobilized organizations and individuals in and out of the district to support more than VND57million for people hit by drought and salt intrusion in the Mekong Delta region.
Development with humanitarian work
One of contents effectively done by the district’s Red Cross Society over the past time was the campaign of “Each organization, individuals should stick to a humanitarian address”. The campaign received enthusiastic response from officials, members, organizations, individuals, enterprises via many forms. It is known that since early this year, the whole district has offered help of more than VND235million to 967 people with difficult circumstances
Ho Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society said that the society has been proactive to make annual plans on mobilizing organizations, individuals to support the local people with difficult circumstances by many practical forms.
Acting as a bridge in mobilizing resources to realize humanitarian movements, the district’s Red Cross Society has created many good ways with high efficiency. The society’s results done in humanitarian work over the past time contributed to helping the local disadvantaged people rise up in life…
