For those new year days, officers, engineers, builders, and public people are joyful to see the bridge be completed before the schedule. For years living in small hamlets with dirt roads, now local people are delightful with a new bridge and better roads.
Phu Long Bridge is one of the three bridges connecting Binh Duong to Ho Chi Minh City over Saigon River, therefore, it plays an important role of internal and inter-regional bridge.
Mr. Le Van Leo – Head of Group 2 in Hoa Long Residential Area, Lai Thieu Ward, Thuan An Town, who has a house in site of the bridge construction, said that the bridge initially was designed on the headwater of the river but then was re-directed to lower section. The reason was that too many construction and obstacles are present in the headwater region.
Director Nguyen Thanh Tam to Thuan An Town Center for land development informed that the designers and builders have chosen Sand Compaction Pile-SCP to ensure progress and quality.
“Each sand compaction pile is driven to 20-25m depth to form solid foundation. As for road leverage from 2m height and above, we also used sand to compact layers of 0.5-0.7m thick each. We, then, used vibrating rollers to ensure the construction progress,” said Mr. Nguyen Huu Huynh – Director of Dai Viet Construction and Bridge Co. Ltd.
As informed, 65 households were affected by site clearance and compensation with 7 ones seriously affected; however, local people accepted the measures to ensure on-schedule construction of the bridge.
“Previously, we lived in a big house which was located deep inside with small roads and travel difficulties due to flood. Now, with big roads, our house is near the street which is a good chance of business for us despite smaller size of the house. We were affected by construction plan but it was our contribution to such great and beautiful construction. We are so happy now,” said Mrs. Huynh Thi Tuyet Nga who has a house affected by the bridge construction.
Phu Long Bridge is a part of industrialization and modernization bid in Binh Duong Province, Ho Chi Minh City, and major economic sector in Southern Region of the nation, connecting the Eastern, Western and Middleland.
