Plans to overcome some flooded spots on National Highway 13 implemented

On the afternoon of June 23, Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, chaired a meeting with leaders of Thuan An city, Becamex IDC and representatives of some provincial departments and sectors to hear reports on handling locations causing flooding on National Highway 13 at the section through Thuan An city.

Reporting at the meeting, Nguyen Thanh Tam, Vice-Secretary of Thuan An city’s Party Committee, Chairman of the city’s People's Committee said that there are currently 3 flooded locations on Highway 13. The first position is the section from National Highway 13 intersecting with Ho Van Men street to Suoi Cat. The second flooded position is in the section of Lotte Thuan An supermarket and the third position is in front of Tan Hiep Phat Company. The cause of flooding was determined by the fact that the water collection mouths at the manholes with small cross-sections are not guaranteed to collect water, and on the right side of the road, only small-section drainage ditches are arranged, which cannot ensure water drainage. Whilst, the sedimentation of sandy soil affects the drainage capacity. Natural water-receiving locations are concreted, leading to frequent flooding... by time.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Thao acknowledged the survey results and solutions to overcome flooded locations on National Highway 13 of Thuan An city and departments and sectors while noting that when finding the main cause of flooding, there must be solutions to ensure immediate and long-term factors. Particularly, Thuan An city, departments and sectors need to pay attention to the effectiveness of works, including non-construction ones, to ensure that anti-flood solutions must be implemented in a synchronous way, with long-term effectiveness and invest in al drainage pump system to prevent flooding of areas when necessary…
