In 5 years of implementation, Binh Duong Provincial authorities by child care programs have created various activities to gather children in entertainment and intellectual and health development to become helpers of the nation in the future.
Playgrounds created
Binh Duong Provincial Children House is a place of children and students enjoying activities in clubs, teams, and groups to develop skills, particularly in summer. Children House is also a place of skill training by summertime camping events. Talking to us, Nguyen Phan Thai Anh, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Provincial Children House disclosed that training courses have been regularly open together with entertainment activities for children, offering them healthy playground and opportunities of acquiring social cares.
Not Binh Duong Provincial Children House alone, centers of culture, information and sports in districts, towns, and Thu Dau Mot City have opened various courses and activities for children to enjoy. Phu Giao District Center for Culture, Information and Sports, i.e., has long introduced courses of Karatedo, Taewondo, Vovinam, rhythm exercises, and swimming for hundreds of children annually.
Meantime in Di An Town, a system of libraries and theatres have been established to satisfy the needs for knowledge of children. Le Bao Tran from Di An Ward of Di An Town told us about her reading hobby.
“I usually visits local library to borrow books home. At the library, misters and mistresses are so polite in guiding me how to choose books. On my visits, I meet up other book enthusiasts and can learn a lot. I hope that everyone can read and enjoy time at schools,” said Le Bao Tran.
Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aside from organization of activities initiated by Binh Duong Provincial Youth’s League, has coordinated with Binh Duong Provincial Library to organize children painting contest. Chess tournaments have been regularly organized at local centers for sports. Various courses in the summer have been organized to discover and train up talents in judo, football, karatedo, table-tennis, and chess. All the activities offer good conditions for children to join up and show their talents.
Besides, schools have coordinated with Youth’s League to organize IT contest for the over 4,000 youths and students annually including events of Children Pioneer’s formality, story-telling and painting in accordance with books contest, Phu Dong sports games, sports games for school students, chess, running tournament, etc.
All-aspect care
Statistically, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs stated that by June 2015, 420,259 children under 16, 159,690 children under 6 are accounted for 23.3% and 8.9% respectively of the whole children population locally.
Binh Duong Provincial authorities have constructed various programs encouraging children to attend schools and swimming courses to avoid injuries and accidents to children. In the form of information dissemination, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated to publish 220 articles disseminating policies, decisions, and laws, and basic knowledge of children protection, education, and children abuse prevention.
Totally, 28 clubs of accident prevention for children have been established in junior high schools in the province. Forty clubs of HIV/AIDS prevention for children in Thu Dau Mot Town, Di Thuan An Town, Tan Uyen Town, and Ben Cat Town have been established with 1,200 members. Coordination has also been made with Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Association of Women to promote universal registration for families of happiness, prosperity, equality, and sustainability so that the children can acquire their utmost rights and developed.
Nguyen Thanh Truc, Head of Children Protection under Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, children care and protection have been very challenging, especially low services for children of special circumstances in large area of the population and immigrants.
Some local authorities have pushed for not-strong-enough information dissemination and calls for helping children to avoid harsh circumstances and abuses. Some parents even fail to be aware of protecting their own children.
