Promoting the tradition of filial piety

Also on January 16, provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs- the Standing Committee of the Elderly People’s Work Committee of the province organized delegations to visit, present gifts and celebrate the longevity of elderly people in the province. Over the past years, Binh Duong paid special attention to elderly people. In addition to central policies, the elderly are regularly visited and given gifts by provincial authorities.

Trinh Duc Tai, Director of provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs stated that the visits and longevity celebrations for elderly people were intended to show respect and care, in line with the Party and State's policies, contributing to encouraging elderly people to live happily, healthily and meaningfully. "Over the past time, the locality paid particular attention to elderly people. In addition to central policies, the elderly have been frequently visited by agencies, organizations and localities, with gifts and encouragement", Mr. Tai added.

In 2024, approximately 12,000 elderly people in the province received gifts and longevity wishes from agencies, organizations and localities. Among them, there were 72 people over 100 years old, 56 people turning 100, 644 people turning 90, and the rest were 70, 75, 80, and 85 years old.

In 2024, provincial People's Council issued a resolution increasing the value of longevity gifts for elderly people compared to previous years. This was one of the meaningful actions to uphold the tradition of filial piety in the locality.

Currently, there are more than 83,000 elderly people in the province, accounting for 4.05% of the total population. In response to the care and attention from all-level authorities, elderly people in the province have actively participated in production movements, setting an exemplary role in various fields of social life, significantly contributing to socio- economic development as well as maintaining political stability in the locality.

*Trinh Duc Tai, Director of provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs mentioned that every year, provincial People's Committee organizes delegations to celebrate the longevity of those who turn 100 in the province. This year, the gifts for elderly people are of higher value than in previous years. Earlier, provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs advised provincial People's Committee on submitting a proposal to provincial People's Council, which issued the Resolution No. 18/2024/NQ-HĐND on October 28, 2024, to increase the value of gifts by 1.7 to 2.5 times compared to the previous level.

On January 16, provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with districts and cities in the province to visit, extend Tet greetings, present gifts and send longevity greetings from State President to 56 people turning 100 years old in the province. For the remaining elderly people, localities set up delegations to give gifts, visit and extend Tet greetings to them.

*On the afternoon of January 16, provincial delegation, led by Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee, also visited and extended Tet greetings to the 34th Army Corps. At the 34th Army Corps Headquarters, Mr. Minh visited and extended Tet greetings to officers and soldiers of the unit, hoping that the unit and Binh Duong province would further promote solidarity and support each other to successfully complete their tasks.

Colonel Duong Van Quang, Deputy Commander of the 34th Army Corps shared the unit's activities over the past time and expressed deep gratitude when the local government visited and extended Tet greetings to officers and soldiers of the unit. He hoped the locality and the unit would further collaborate and fulfill assigned tasks.
