On Jan.28, provincial Steering Board for Population-Family Planning Program held a conference to review the National Target Program on Population and Family Planning for 2011-2015 period and define orientations for 2016-2020 period, in attendance of provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Dang Minh Hung.
Reportedly, the province fulfilled all the set targets on population-family planning for 2011-2015 period. As of late 2015, the province’s total population reached more than 1.9mln people with the average population growth during the 2011-2015 period being1.03% a year. The rate of women giving birth to a third child upward reduced to 3.3% in 2015. The quality of the local population was improved with the average life-span of people reaching over 75.
For 2016-2020 period, the Steering Board has set a target of reaching around 2.2 million people. The rate of women giving birth to a third child upward will reduce to 2.5%. The rate of couples using modern contraceptive measures will reach more than 73%...
On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee also awarded the certificates of merit to outstanding individuals in the local program on population-family planning for 2011-2015 period; the emulation banners to 2 collectives and 28 collectives for their excellent performance in the local population-family planning task for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015…
