In response to the 2025 Humanitarian Month, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels are focusing on organizing many meaningful activities. These activities are being integrated to enhance their impact, spread compassion and support the community, especially disadvantaged individuals and vulnerable groups in the society.
Spreading love and compassion
With the theme of "The Humanitarian Journey – Spreading Love", the 2025 Humanitarian Month is being actively implemented in many localities through vibrant and meaningful activities aimed at supporting the disadvantaged. These efforts contribute to promoting compassion and building up a united and caring community.

On April 29, Minh Tan communal Red Cross Society in Dau Tieng district, in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and other local mass organizations, organized a "Zero-dong Market" to support disadvantaged residents. At the event, the communal Red Cross and its partners distributed 70 gift sets worth a total of VND 49 million to local residents.
Meanwhile, from April 26 to 28 in An Long commune, the local Red Cross Society, with support from donors and local hamlets, held three gift-giving events for underprivileged people in Xom Quat, Bau Cam and Bau Cu hamlets. Huynh Thi Kim Thuy, Chairwoman of An Long communal Red Cross Society shared that the gift-giving event was combined with the “National Reunification Day” and the 2025 Humanitarian Month. A total of 70 gifts worth VND 21 million were presented to those in need, along with 15 gratitude gifts worth VND7.5million for revolutionary contributors.
As part of the activities in response to this year’s Humanitarian Month, fundraising efforts to support the construction and repair of “Red Cross” houses for disadvantaged households remain a key focus for Red Cross Societies at all levels. Each newly built or renovated home not only provides a stable shelter for families in need, but also serves as a source of encouragement, motivating them to strive for a better life. With that meaningful purpose, the Red Cross Society of Phuoc Hoa commune in Phu Giao district has recently organized a handover ceremony for a Red Cross house to Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa—a resident classified as a household facing housing difficulties in the commune.
The house has a total floor area of 45 square meters and cost VND 140 million for construction. Of the total figure, Hanoi Production – Service – Import Export Joint Stock Company in Phuoc Hoa commune’s Bo La hamlet contributed VND 80 million; Commando Brigade 429 donated 50 working days worth VND 15 million; the remaining fund was mobilized by the local Red Cross and contributed by the family. This project also represents Phuoc Hoa communal Red Cross Society's contribution to the government-led movement of "Joining Hands to Eliminate Substandard Houses", helping bring stable lives to local people.
Spreading the values of humanity
Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society stated that in response to the Government's call to eliminate substandard houses in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, provincial Red Cross Society has mobilized VND 10 billion to support the construction and repair of Red Cross houses for underprivileged people across the province. In addition to housing support, the society also provides each household with a bed set and essential items to help improve their living conditions.

To ensure the success of the Humanitarian Month, provincial Red Cross Society has proactively launched its plans and mobilized resources, calling on officials, members, volunteers, businesses, organizations and individuals in and out of the province to participate in meaningful humanitarian activities. The Red Cross Society serves as a bridge between donors and those in need, helping the disadvantaged rise above their circumstances.
This year’s Humanitarian Month also includes various other activities conducted by Red Cross societies from provincial to grassroots levels such as providing scholarships to students in difficult circumstances; supporting livelihoods for poor households; offering free health check-ups, medicine and gifts; building humanitarian projects; promoting voluntary blood donation and organ/tissue donation and encouraging participation in the “Million Steps of Kindness – Continuing the Golden History” campaign in 2025 to raise funds for humanitarian aid (equivalent to 1,000 VND per kilometer)…
The Humanitarian Month this year coincides with major national and Red Cross celebrations. The Red Cross Society will continue playing a core role in humanitarian efforts, acting as a reliable address for people, individuals, organizations and donors to place their trust, share and contribute to humanitarian activities so that the humanitarian journey may continue spreading love throughout the community.
Over 200,000 people supported From 2018 to 2024, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels organized the Humanitarian Month with practical and effective activities in line with the conditions of each locality and unit. During this period, the province mobilized and provided over VND 67.4 billion in aid, supporting more than 200,000 disadvantaged individuals. The value of support during the Humanitarian Month was 3.5 times higher than in other months on average. |
This year, the Humanitarian Month runs from March 1 to May 31, 2025, with a peak period from May 8 to May 19. Compared to previous years, the 2025 Humanitarian Month is being implemented two months earlier (it usually takes place in May). With an extended timeframe, provincial Red Cross societies at all levels have been able to roll out humanitarian activities earlier than usual. |
