President Truong Tan Sang presents gifts to outstanding ethnic minority students (Source: VNA)
President Truong Tan Sang has congratulated 78 outstanding ethnic minority students on their achievements at national academic contests and the 2014 university entrance exams at a meeting held in Hanoi on November 1.
The participants represented more than 110 ethnic minority students who came to Hanoi to attend an honouring ceremony held earlier by the Government’s Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs and the Vietnam News Agency in co-ordination with the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Television and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU).
At the meeting, President Sang said that ethnic minority students were key human resources to boost their localities’ development, and urged them to exert every effort and make further contributions to the cause of national development.
According to Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh, 85 ethnic minority students won prizes at national academic contests, including one first, 11 second, 32 third and 41 consolation prizes. Many others achieved outstanding results in national college and university entrance exams.
