Promoting creativity of teachers

After the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) launched the project “Developing handmade teaching aids in pre and high schools” in 2010, provincial preschools and senior high schools’ teachers have responded the movement of self-made teaching aids zealously, which makes class times more interesting and saves a large expense for teaching equipment.

Utilizing waste products

Teacher Nguyen Tu Phuong Loan of Hoa Cuc 5 kindergarten in Thuan An town has paid lot attention to collecting old things, like: milk boxes, cookies boxes, old newspapers… to make teaching aids. From these disposed things, she made colorful, useful toys and equipment for teaching.

The contest of handmade teaching aids for primary schools 2014

Recently, most of provincial teachers have recycled waste products to make teaching aids to practice thrift as well as contribute to environmental protection. Especially, the movement “Studying and following uncle Ho’s moral example” has enhanced this creative activity.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Loan of An Thai primary school in Phu Giao district, who won the A prize of provincial Teaching aids contest 2014, said: “We utilize old pictures, newspapers and waste products to made teaching equipment to save for ourselves, our school, pupils’ parents, and society. We are motivated to continue creating more things, when pupils have loved our works”.

Promoting creativity from teachers

This project of the MOET is to generalize self-made teaching aids movement in schools, create new equipment, recycle old things, and to respond to movement “Building friendly schools, active pupils” and “Every teacher is an example of morality, self-learning, creativity”.

Provincial Department of Education and Training’s Deputy Director Tran Hieu said: “Handmade teaching aids movement has been developed in many provincial schools and localities. However, there are still some difficulties. This creative activity requires a lot time, efforts, money, and even enthusiasm for this job from teachers. Additionally, there are some other difficulties, such as: lack of funds for material purchase, low durability of handmade teaching aids, limited ability of teachers, unsatisfactory incentives for teachers”.

Generally, the project ““Developing handmade teaching aids in pre and high schools” deployed by the MOET has encouraged teachers to enhance their creativity, simultaneously has contributed to teaching methods innovation and teaching quality improvement.

Total investment for the project “Developing handmade teaching aids in pre and high schools” is VND700bln and has been disbursed from 2010 to 2015. Majority investment is in activities at schools. In 2010, the MOET selected 5 provinces, cities to implement this project; total disbursement of this stage was VND80bln, including VND75bln for supporting directly school activities.
