With efforts from the national Committee for AIDS, Narcotics and Prostitution Prevention and Fighting, along with sectors and international organizations Binh Duong has launched many preventive programs on AIDS, narcotics and prostitution with many significant results. However, the local infection on HIV remains complicated. As of Sept. 30, 2011 the locality had 1,649 people living with HIV. As many as 2,372 people died of the disease.
Over years, the provincial Center for AIDS Prevention and Fighting has been a unit leading in promulgation on HIV/AIDS prevention and fighting. The center in cooperation with relevant units has mapped out plans against HIV/AIDS. Especially, in the annual campaign against HIV/AIDS, the unit has spared no efforts to spur promulgations against HIV/AIDS. Therefore, local youths’ awareness on HIV/AIDS control has been improved sharply.
In addition, the unit has launched many various measures of dissemination against HIV/AIDS. They include seminars, contests and so on.
Doctor Nguyen Kieu Uyen, director of the center, said “the center will spur promulgations against HIV/AIDS and cooperate with other units to decline spreading of the disease.
Especially, promulgations against HIV/AIDS under close organizations across localities have contributed to decline spreading of HIV/AIDS in the province over years.
