Early June 7, a delegation of the Ministry of Justice had a working session with Binh Duong province on the assessment of the people’s participation in the supervision of the local law enforcement on environmental protection.
The event was attended by Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of the Institute of Legal Science under the Ministry of Justice and members of the delegation; leaders of provincial People's Council, Fatherland Front Committee, departments, agencies, mass organizations and localities.
According to the survey results, since 2015, the compliance with the law on environmental protection by agencies, businesses, organizations and individuals in the province has been increasingly improved. The prevention and control of pollution in industrial parks and compounds in the province have been basically controlled; 100% of industrial parks and compounds in operation have invested in building a standard wastewater treatment system and been certified for completion of environmental protection works.
Sharing about the participation of the people in monitoring the local enforcement of the law on environmental protection at the meeting, representatives of departments, agencies and localities in the province said that people have recently been more active in monitoring work. Accordingly, most patrols to handle environmental violations in the province came from denunciations of people. This was a positive sign, affirming positive changes in people's self-awareness and proactiveness in monitoring and enforcing the law on environmental protection in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong acknowledged the opinions by delegates. He also suggested provincial departments, agencies and localities to further strengthen the management functions of State agencies while continuing promoting the task of propagandizing and mobilizing people to join hands in supervising law enforcement activities on environmental protection in the province. The supervision and denunciation of the people are the most practical bases for State management agencies to promptly capture information and handle violations.
