Propagation on building a safe traffic culture enhanced among students

On November 2, the Government Office held an online conference on ensuring traffic safety for students. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, chaired the conference. Mai Hung Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, chaired the conference at Binh Duong endpoint. 

According to reports, over the first 10 months of 2023, the national traffic police force detected and handled more than 64,000 cases of students violating traffic safety order, fined more than 39 billion VND, and impounded more than 61,000 motorbikes; Of which, underage students drove motorbikes had more than 30,000 cases. Most of the violations were not wearing a helmet, not having a driver's license, speeding, carrying more than the prescribed number of passengers, alcohol violations, and not obeying traffic lights and instructions from traffic controllers.

Traffic accidents involving students (aged 6-18 years old) occurred 881 times, killing 490 people and injuring 827 people. Compared to the same period in 2020, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 7.58%, death toll increased by over 2%, the number of injured people decreased by more than 7%.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that people absolutely must not be negligent or subjective when driving vehicles in traffic; remind people to participate in traffic safely. The Deputy Prime Minister ordered the traffic police force to increase surprise inspections at schools to detect and promptly handle students driving motorbikes against the law; All functional levels and branches strengthen propagation on building a safe traffic culture among students.
