Morning May 31st, Binh Duong province held a meeting to celebrate the World Environment Day (June 5th). Mr. Tran Van Nam, Chairman of PPC, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Chairman of PPC, and leaders of sectors, agencies, units, youth members, youngsters, and people took part in the ceremony.
The ceremony had many interesting activities, such as: companionship walking of more than 2,500 officials, youth members, and people; collecting old things to exchange for gifts, instructing to make and use recycled things…... These activities aimed to raise public awareness through environmental friendly acts.
Mr. Tran Van Nam honored 14 collectives, individuals, associations achieving Green Environment Award.
At the ceremony, the province honored 14 collectives, individuals, associations achieving Green Environment Award of this year due to their concrete actions to preserve the environment.
Ms. Tran Thi Son living in Phu Hoa ward, TDM City was an example in propaganda of environmental protection. She has encouraged local people to develop environmental protecting autonomous models, such as: saving water, electricity, collecting garbage, green Sundays… From spontaneous activities at their quarter, environmental protecting autonomous models has been replicated into hundreds of models across TDM City.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Khoa living in An Long commune, Phu Giao district, shared her success from green and clean agricultural production model that helped many farmers to increase revenue through safe vegetable production, fertilizer, pesticides litmiting…
Bau Bang district is one of locality honored at the ceremony due to their effective waste collecting and classifying program. Bau Bang is a rural locality but lead the province in waste classification. Daily trash sources are classified into organic waste, household waste, solid waste by households, facilitating waste processing, improving people’s awareness of environmental protection.
In recent years, environmental protecting and preserving movements in the province have transformed into concrete actions, spread deeply among people, become parts of daily life, created positive effects on raising people’s awareness of preserving the environment.
On this occasion, Environmental Ambassador singer Nguyen Phi Hung sent a message that the environmental protection was a responsibility of the whole community. Youth Union members, youngsters - the future owner of the country – will take over the responsibility to be pioneers in environmental protection works.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem said, by 2050 the world population would reach 9.6 billion requiring 3 earths to satisfy traditional consumption habits; environmental pollution would become a global issue. Every official, Youth Union members, youngsters, and all people have to improve our awareness of environment protection, reduce food waste, mitigate negative effects on the environment by small daily actions.
