Province actively looks for investment sources to develop the public healthcare system

On the morning of March 20, Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting with Department of Health on the overall development project of medical sector in Binh Duong province until 2030, with a vision for 2050 (referred to as the scheme).

According to Department of Health, the development of this project is necessary. Binh Duong is a province with a high migration rate. It is expected that by 2030, the province's population would reach about 3.5 million people. To achieve the target of 29 hospital beds/10,000 people and 11 doctors/10,000 people, the province needs to double the number of existing hospital beds and doctors.

From now to 2030 and orientation to 2050, according to the scheme, the province will build three specialized hospitals (Gynecology, Pediatrics, Tropical Medicine, Psychiatry); at least 2/3 of hospitals established before 2025; to build a new terminal-line hospital with a scale of 2,000 beds and put it into operation after 2030. Regarding human resources, the provincial medical sector aims to train and recruit 6,000 new medical staff with university degrees or higher, including 3,000 public medical workers; ensure the ratio of nurses, technicians/doctors is 3:1. Provincial General Hospital is a hospital of the last line, with at least one district-level hospital reaching grade I. Public hospitals in the area become training and practice establishments.

Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Loc Ha noted that the project needs a roadmap and plan with detailed time, investment plan for facilities, orientation for construction scale and resources. The issue of financial and funding mechanisms must be specified, appropriately arranged with a land fund, associated with the roles, functions and tasks of each department, branch. Localities need to actively find sources to develop the public healthcare system, actively socialize in construction investment and attract human resources.
