
Across the hub roads in Thu Dau Mot town and localities blaze with lamps. Ornamental flower pots are installed across streets plus bustling ambience of trade activity show that Tet is approaching.
Streets blaze with lamps
At night, lamps and neon lights illuminate main roads across the province. Bui Thi Nhung, a small trader selling vegetable in Thu Dau Mot night market, said Tet ambience overwhelms the market since the end of Dec. to light streets in the hub area at night, especially before, during and after Tet, the provincial People’s Committee asked relevant agencies to decorate roads.
According to the local Culture Center, the center in cooperation with the Culture Bureaus at grassroot levels has hanged 120 hoardings, 1,500 various flags and so on across streets to welcome the Lunar New Year. Besides, the center has held mobile exhibitions to welcome the Party, Lunar New Year, all level party congress and the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Ha Noi at local culture center and some routes.
Meanwhile, routes in the hubs of Di An, Ben Cat, Thuan An, Tan Uyen, Dau Tieng, Phu Giao and so on are lightened by lamps and neon lights. Routes in Lai Thieu, An Thanh townships of Thuan An district, the district People’s Committee has installed hundreds of gateways decorated with lamps. Besides, the Committee encouraged Chinese liaison committee in the two townships to decorate streets with a total value of nearly VND1bil.
At Phu Giao district, the local People’s Committee has hung countless hoardings, flags, neon lights, lamps and so on throughout the main routes.
Many lively activities
The provincial department of Culture-Sports & Tourism said many lively activities will take place during the Lunar New Year 2010. Specifically, local library will hold a Spring newspaper exhibition from Feb. 5 to March 16 whilst the department will organize a Spring Flower Festival and Lion and Dragon Dance Festival on Feb. 18.
Nguyen Van Minh, the Chief of the department Secretariat, said the highlighted character of this year’s festival lies in the New Year’s Eve festival at provincial stadium on lunar Dec. 30. The ceremony will include traditional rites and fireworks to welcome the lunar New Year. Moreover, music performances will take place across IPs to cater for immigrant workers who stay for Tet.
