Early August 2, provincial Buddhist Sangha grandly held a ceremony to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS). Attending the ceremony were Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Huynh Van Nhi, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee together Buddhist dignitaries, nuns, monks and followers across the province.

At the ceremony, most Venerable Thich Hue Thong reviewed the 35-year development of the VBS and the 33-year development of provincial Buddhist Sangha. He also wanted to further receive the attention and support of the local authorities at all levels, facilitating the development of the local Buddhist community with the motto of “Dharma, nation and socialism”.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr.Hung acknowledged and praised contributions by the Buddhist community to the local socio-economic development. Provincial leaders also believed that the VBS in general and provincial Buddhist Sangha in particular will always stand firm before all difficulties and challenges during the international integration process…
On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee awarded the certificates of merit to 3 individuals and 6 collectives for their contributions to the local Buddhist Sangha between 1983 and 2016. Provincial Buddhist Sangha also presented 500 gifts and 50 scholarships to needy cases with a total value of VND200million.
*On the afternoon of the same day, the Executive Board of provincial Buddhist Sangha held a requiem for martyrs who laid down their lives for national independence and freedom at provincial Martyrs’ Cemetery.
After Buddhist rituals, participants offered incense, laid flowers and burn 5,000 candles at the cemetery.
