Province prepares Tet for workers

As implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor as well as all levels on organizing Tet-caring activities for workers, especially those who are far from home, the Provincial Labor Federation has deployed this plan. Trade unions at all levels will also provide thousands of free train tickets for workers having difficult circumstances to return home for Tet celebration; and support transportation for workers in southern provinces and cities.

Every year, the Provincial Labor Confederation always organizes thoughtful and warm Tet care activities for workers.

Prepare vehicles carefully

Up to now, the plan to provide free transportation for workers during the Lunar New Year 2025 has been deployed by grassroots trade unions to all workers in enterprises and units in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Phuong, Chairman of the Trade Union at Compass 2 Company Limited (located in VSIP 1, Thuan An City), stated that every year, the Provincial Labor Federation takes great care in organizing the registration of union members and facilitating workers' journeys home for Tet. This effort is especially focused on supporting workers facing challenging circumstances. The Trade Union of Compass 2 Company Limited has completed registration and is waiting for approval. “Each year, our company is authorized to assist approximately 10 individuals who are facing difficult circumstances and have been unable to return home to celebrate Tet with their families for at least two years,” said Mr. Phuong.

According to the plan, for this year's Tet, the Provincial Labor Federation will use the Provincial Labor Union's budget to support 1,000 train tickets for workers far from home. It is known that departure time is from January 23 to 25, 2025 (i.e., December 24 to 26 of the lunar calendar). The Provincial Labor Confederation will deliver tickets 10 days in advance from the departure date.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, the Vice President of the Provincial Labor Confederation, stated that this initiative is designed to help union members and workers return to their hometowns to celebrate the traditional Tet holiday with their families. Additionally, this activity seeks to foster significant changes in the awareness and actions of trade unions at all levels by innovating how they care for their members and workers. According to Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, "this is an annual activity to care for the lives of workers far from home; helps to spread the concern and support of businesses and society for union members and workers every Lunar New Year."

Airline ticket support

In order to help workers return home for Tet celebration with their families, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor supported Binh Duong workers with 450 train tickets and 80 plane tickets to Vinh Airport (Nghe An) and Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi). The criteria for selecting and approving "Union Flight - Spring 2025" are similar to those for approving spring train tickets, but there must be at least 3 years of not returning home for Tet... The Provincial Labor Confederation instructed all grassroots trade unions, higher-level trade unions, and affiliated units to assess their funding sources. They were urged to seek additional support from businesses to help organize spring buses that would transport workers home to celebrate Tet, as has been done every year.

In addition to providing transportation support, the Provincial Labor Confederation also has a plan to take good care of all union members and workers during the Lunar New Year 2025.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran added that for the Provincial Labor Confederation, the organization and launch of the program "Tết Sum vầy - Xuân ơn Đảng" is combined with some specific activities, such as the opening of "Union Tet Market 2025", the launching of "Union Train - Spring 2025", "Union Bus - Spring 2025"... In addition, organize activities to visit union members and workers, giving gifts and extending New Year's wishes, particularly to those who are facing difficulties. Focus on workers with low incomes, those suffering from serious illnesses or occupational diseases, individuals who have experienced work-related accidents, those who are underemployed, unemployed workers, and those who are owed wages and bonuses. The Provincial Labor Confederation will organize visits and present gifts to workers having difficult circumstances and with low incomes; propose the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, departments and branches to visit and present Tet gifts to union members and workers in the province.

According to the Provincial Labor Confederation, the "Union Tet Market 2025" program will be organized by unions at all levels on a large scale and with careful planning. The initiative aims to provide essential, high-quality goods and services at discounted prices. It will include the distribution of shopping vouchers and products at "0 VND," as well as various discounts. Additionally, the program will feature cultural and sports activities, gift-giving, health consultations, and the provision of free medicine to union members and workers.

Union members and employees who are considered for spring train tickets must meet the set criteria, such as: having difficult circumstances or having certificates of merit and awards from trade unions at all levels in the period of 2020-2024; not having returned to their hometown on Tet holidays for many years (from 2 years or more); having the need to return to their hometown on Tet and committing to return to their unit or enterprise to work after the Tet holiday ends. Along with that, other criteria include adhering to the policies, regulations, and rules of the agency, unit, and locality where one resides, as well as actively participating in trade union activities…
