Province solemnly celebrates Lord Buddha's 2568th birthday

Early May 22, the Executive Board of provincial Buddhist Sangha solemnly organized a ceremony to celebrate the 2568th Lord Buddha's birthday.

The event was attended by Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee's Propaganda-Education Commission; Nguyen Van Dong, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Thu Dau Mot city’s Party Committee; Nguyen Thi My Hang, Chairwoman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Legal Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee, Head of provincial Buddhist Sangha read a message about Buddha's 2568th birthday from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Buddhist monks, nuns and followers performed the traditional rituals of offering incense and bathing the Buddha; released doves and balloons to pray for world peace together with delegates.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Ha acknowledged contributions by the province’s Buddhist community to the local cause of construction and development over the past time while wishing the local Buddhist monks, nuns and followers good health, peace and happiness. He expressed his belief that the local Buddist community always implements Buddha's teachings well, following the ideal of "Dharma - Nation - Socialism", further cultivating and playing an important role in the great national unity bloc; all works for the purpose of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha, the country and the people, contributing to bringing a peaceful and prosperous life to the people, peace to humanity in general and actively building up a more and more civilized and modern Binh Duong...

On this occasion, provincial Buddhist Sangha presented symbolic boards supporting the construction of 6 charity houses for provincial Fatherland Front Committee and 4 charity houses for Tan Uyen city’s Fatherland Front Committee. The Social Charity Board of provincial Buddhist Sangha also gave financial support for provincial Red Cross Society to award scholarships to 100 poor-but-excellent students and gifts to 500 disadvantaged people.
