Province speeds up teacher recruitment for the new school year

The new school year 2024-2025 is approaching, in addition to preparing material facilities, the Provincial Department of Education and Training together with localities in the province are making efforts to recruit teachers to ensure enough resources for the new school year. The problem of teacher shortage is still a major challenge facing the education and training sector of the province for many years.

The shortage of teachers poses huge challenges to the education and training sector of Binh Duong province.

 High demand

Binh Duong is a province with a large concentration of workers coming from all over the country to live and work here. Every year, the number of students increases rapidly, leading to increased demand for facilities and teachers. Recently, Binh Duong has made great efforts to ensure facilities to meet the learning needs of the population and the needs of teaching and learning. However, the availability of staff and teachers for each new school year is still a problem for the education and training sector of Binh Duong.

As one of the localities with a large number of students, the demand to recruit teachers in Thuan An City is also higher than in other localities. According to the plan, in the 2024-2025 school year, Thuan An City will recruit 508 positions of education officials, including: class-three teachers at all levels from preschool to high school, library, equipment, clerical, accounting...

Huynh Thi My Ngan, Head of Education & Training Office of  Thuan An City, said that to prepare for the new school year, the office reviewed and coordinated with Internal Affair Office to advise the City People's Committee to issue a plan to recruit teachers and staff for other positions. However, up to now, the most difficult thing in this work is that the recruitment source cannot meet the demand.

In the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, Tru Van Tho Junior High School (Bau Bang district) is estimated to lack about 20 full-time teachers according to regulations. According to Le Minh Thu, Principal of the school, the school lacks the most teachers in two subjects: English and career guidance experience. The school must wait for the assigned resources, then if there is not enough, they will coordinate with the education and training sector to look for contract teachers to ensure students can immediately study the learning program prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training

In previous school years, to overcome the shortage of teachers, schools in the province have contracted more teachers, rotated and mobilized teachers from places with surplus to places with shortages; mobilize teachers to increase teaching hours, increase classes... Besides, for many years, the education and training sector has also made efforts to propose and implement policies to attract and retain teachers for each educational level and for subjects that lack recruitment resources in particular.

Accelerate recruitment

There are only nearly 2 months left until the new school year begins, to solve the shortage of teachers, Provincial Department of Education and Training announced the recruitment and is receiving applications from registered candidates. At the same time, localities in the province are currently carrying out the recruitment of education and training officials according to current management hierarchy.

Accordingly, Provincial Department of Education and Training will directly recruit personnel for units under the department, including public high schools (public high schools, schools with two levels of public junior high school and high school); Provincial Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development. As for levels from preschool to junior high school and Vocational Education - Continuing Education Centers in localities, the recruitment will be assigned to People's Committees of districts and cities.

Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of Provincial Department of Education and Training, said that the recruitment of education officials will be carried out in 2 rounds. Round 1, checking candidates' conditions and standards through application registration forms and related documents according to job position requirements... Round 2, interviewing to test candidates' skills according to the requirements of the required job position.

“Over the years, Provincial Department of Education and Training also advised Provincial People's Committee to adjust the requirements and criteria to create an open mechanism to attract teachers into Binh Duong. In particular, during the recruitment process, the province does not assign people who are relatives of candidates, or people who have been dealt with for corrupt or negative behavior in staffing work, to be members of the Recruitment Council, members of supporting boards of the Recruitment Council", Ms. Hang added.

In addition to candidates who meet the admission conditions according to regulations, the education and training sector of Binh Duong also applies a priority scoring policy when recruiting depending on each group, such as: Heroes of the Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor, wounded soldiers; ethnic minorities, military officers, police officers, serving professional soldiers; Trade union officials grew up from the grassroots, in labor movements...

The teaching staff is identified as the leading factor determining success in improving the educational quality. The lack of teachers at all educational levels has had a significant impact on teaching and learning in many schools in the province as well as poses challenges for provincial education and training sector. Difficulties are present, however, to complete the goal of comprehensive education, the entire province's education and training sector is making efforts and determines to work with other sectors and localities to successfully implement goals and tasks.

In order to continue adding the number of officials that ensure the standardization of teachers and staff for the education and training sector; based on the actual needs of the 2024-2025 school year and assigned staff, units under Provincial Department of Education and Training needs to supplement 141 slots for 9 job positions for high schools and the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Training of Binh Duong province. Localities also have recruitment plans, including: Thuan An City 508 slots, Tan Uyen City 262 slots, Thu Dau Mot City 240 slots, Ben Cat City 214 slots, Phu Giao district 82 slots, Bau Bang district 79 slots..
