Thanks to the timely instructions of the provincial Party and government, poor households and workers who could not return home for Tet enjoyed a joyful and warm Tet, according to the report just released by provincial Permanent Party Committee.
Estimatedly, the province spent nearly VND67bln on caring for poor households and needy workers away from home on Tet. Province-based social, charity organizations and enterprises also shared efforts to take care of the poor on Tet with a total expense reaching hundreds of billions of dong. Many activities celebrating the Lunar New Year 2010 and Party congresses at all levels were organized animatedly.
Nguyen Van Khuong, vice-chairman of provincial Labor Union said that most enterprises allowed their staff to take days off for Tet from February 9 to 11 and have resumed work from February 19 to 23. The whole province had 57 enterprises to give support on travel expenses for nearly 12,000 workers who returned home for Tet.
Owning to having good preparation, the amount of goods for Tet this year in the province herein was very abundant at the shopping demand of the local residents. Districts and town herein also arranged additional 1,000 places selling Tet goods to serve the local residents... According to the report by provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the total value of goods for Tet this year reached more than VND113bln, up 50% compared to the previous year.
During Tet, the social order and security herein was fairly stable. But, the number of cases hospitalized increased sharply compared to the previous year. From December 30 to January 4 of Lunar calendar, there were 446 cases hospitalized, up 223 compared to the previous year, according to provincial Health Department.
Mai The Trung, Member of the Party Central Committee, provincial Party Committee Chief spoke highly of the efforts of the Party organizations, authorities and social-charity organizations in taking care of the spiritual and material lives of policy beneficiaries, poor people and laborers on Tet. He also instructed the local authorities to further ensure order and security, especially during the annual Thien Hau Temple Festival; give support to enterprises in stabilizing their production after Tet.
