The provincial People’s Committee just ratified a plan on building social housing for the period of 2011-2015. Accordingly, from now till 2015, the south of Binh Duong province will build nearly 2 million square meters of social housing to meet accommodation demand for over 175,200 residents.
The project’s beneficiaries include cadres, public servants, officers, soldiers, students, laborers and low-incomers.
Statistically, the province now has 207,000 square meters of housing under basic completion. Till 2015, the south of Binh Duong province will build an additional 1.75 million sq.m meters of housing with the investment capital of about VND11,925bil, VND1,425bil of which is for site clearance and compensation.

soldiers, officers and about 60,000 square meters of housing for students and
about 1,250,000 square meters of housing for laborers and about 500,000 square
meters of housing for low-incomers with tens of investment projects.
Accordingly, Thu Dau Mot town is given top priorities in building social housing. Nguyen Loc Ha, vice chairman of the town People’s Committee, said social housing is an essential demand for the town development. Till 2015, the town will build about 453,000 square meters of housing with the total expense of about VND3,000bil.

To launch and complete the project timely, Tran Thanh Liem, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee steered relevant agencies and businesses to launch the project after being approved and minimize site clearance and compensation. In terms of construction, area of apartments will occupy from 30-50 square meters in conformity with buyers’ capacity.
However, with the huge plan, the province is in need of supportive policies from Central and should encourage economic sectors to join in the project.
