A ceremony to review the province’s 2014 summer youth volunteer campaign was held on August 23.
During the program, the local youth volunteers organized a booth selling shirts, hats and bandannas to raise money for the “Making dreams come true” fund for children at charity classes. The program also featured a booth on voluntary squads’ products; held an exchange between youth volunteers and Le Trung Thanh, Captain of the Flotilla 201’s ship 4044 under the Command Committee of Vietnamese Marine Police ‘s Marine Police Region 2.
This year’s Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign absorbed more than 30,000 local Youth Union members with significant activities done in and out of the province. As a result, they upgraded nearly 40km of rural roads; gave 1,200 units of blood; provided free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for more than 33,000 people with difficult circumstances; donated 200 life buoys, medicine bags to fishermen in Phu Quy island district; awarded more than 100 scholarships to poor children…
On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee honored four outstanding collectives and individuals. Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee also honored 23 collectives and 48 individuals for their excellent performance in the 2014 summer youth volunteer campaign.
