Early June 4, provincial People’s Committee held a press meeting on the local socio-economic performance in the first five months of 2014. Attending the event were representatives of more than 20 central and local press agencies.
According to provincial People’s Committee, the province’s economic performance in the first five months of the year continued to go on smoothness with social welfare ensured, political security, social order and safety maintained. Particularly, industrial production value was estimated at more than VND70.92trillion, up 11% compared to the same period last year. Total retail sales revenue of commodities and services reached more than VND42.82trillion, up 18% over last year’s same period. Export turnover secured more than US$5.4bln, up 11% against last year’s same period.
In terms of investment attraction, the province also absorbed additional US$978.4mln or 97.8% of the year’s plan. The province has so far attracted 2,2 95 FDI projects with total investment capital of US$19.74bln. Also during the period, the province absorbed additional VND4.228trillion from 875 new domestic projects and 102 extra-ones. The province has till now lured 16,233 domestic projects with total investment capital of more than VND123.91trillion.
Speaking at the meeting, provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Van Nam thanked all central and local press agencies for their efforts in standing side by side with the province in propaganda of socio-economic events. He said that with the Government and province’s practical measures, investors in Binh Duong would be created the best favorable conditions for stabilizing their production and business.
