Since its inception, provincial Association for the Blind has constantly developed both in quality and quantity, step by step improving the material and spiritual lives of the local blind people. It is now seen as a fulcrum for the local blind people, helping them overcome difficulties and rise up in life.

 Helping blind people improve their qualification…

 Making favorable conditions for the blind to improve their qualification is seen as one of the key tasks of provincial Association for the Blind.

 Provincial Association for the Blind has so far set up and maintained many classes on rehabilitation for blind children, according to association chairman Tran Van Em. Provincial Association for the Blind and its affiliates over time also implemented information dissemination about the Party and State’s policies and laws for 15,400 members; provided members with necessary documents; spent VND200mln on equipping a computer room for the blind; organized a lot of classes for their cadres…

 …Generating jobs for the blind

 Provincial Association for the Blind has made efforts in generating jobs for the local blind people, helping them stabilize their lives.

 Noticeably, the association opened vocational training courses for members with a total expense of nearly VND200mln, funded by charity organizations and the Vietnam Blind People’s Association of Production and Trading. Most members have been offered jobs with the average income of VND800,000 or VND1.5mln per capita per month after graduation.

 Massage is one of the skills helping the blind earn high income of more than VND2mln per person per month. Thanks to source of income from massage plus the State’s allowance, Pham Van Xuan and his wife have a stable life together with their two children.

 The association has also helped 2,000 members get a loan of nearly VND6mln on credit to develop home-based business.

Mr.Em added that the whole association now has no more members facing difficulty in terms of housing. So far, there have been 155 members given unity houses worth nearly VND1.5bln, mainly funded by donors…
