In response to the “Tet (Lunar New Year) for the poor” program, provincial Buddhist Sangha has actively mobilized organizations and individuals to present gifts to the poor across the province on the occasion of the last Tet holiday 2015 and the upcoming Thien Hau lady temple festival.
Superior Buddhist monk Thich Hue Thong, Head of provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board said that provincial Buddhist Sangha and its affiliates have closely coordinated with provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, Association of the Blind and Red Cross Society to visit and give gifts for the poor, lonely elderly people, orphans and the disabled across the province.
Province-based pagodas have also presented 100 gifts worth between VND350,000 and VND500,000 each to needy people. Estimatedly, provincial Buddhist Sangha and pagodas have spent nearly VND7bln on social charity activities on this occasion.
