Provincial Children’s Sponsorship Fund: 20 years of assisting distressed children

By September 27, Provincial Children’s Sponsorship Fund (CSF) ages 20 years as a charity bridge helping to bring smile, trust, and future to various children in distress.

Children enjoy healthy and joyful life

At his time, President Ho Chi Minh used to say: “Adolescences and children are the future owners of the nation. Therefore, taking care of and educating them well are the tasks of the whole Party and the people…”. Upholding his teaching, our Party, State, and the whole society have take care of children.

Talking to us, Nguyen Tan Trieu, Director of CSF, said that in 20 years, nearly one hundred thousand children in extremely difficult circumstances in the province were cared for, helped and timely supported. Supporting activities focus on four groups of children's rights: the right to life, the right to development, the right to protection and the right to participation. Based on these rights, CSF at all levels has organized many programs with profound humanitarian implications.

First of all are medical and healthcare programs such as eye surgery, heart surgery, and surgery to restore smiles. Over the years, CSF has funded eye surgery for 867 children, helping them find the meaning of life. Heart surgery is also a very meaningful activity. Thanks to the support of socio-economic organizations, benefactors have funded averagely VND 70-100 million for each heart surgery. The hearts of 235 struggling children are maintained so that they could write up their unfinished study dreams ahead. In society, then and there, some children suffer from cleft lip and palate. Many children have become self-deprecation and defensiveness of their disability. Understanding such suffering of, CSF has given the real smile and confidence in life by funding surgery to restore their smiles.

Schooling dream continues

Schooling is the raging dream of children in general. However, in society, kids’ schooling in some places or another is affected out of poverty. To help children in particularly difficult circumstances to go to school, every year’s school start, the children received scholarships full of love. Outstanding scholarships are held regularly every year to support and encourage children to overcome fate and continue their schooling. Up to 2017, CSF has held 16 consecutive programs, awarding 5,956 scholarships of over VND 7 billion, creating the most favorable conditions for poor students to go to school. Recognizing that one of the causes of students dropping out of school is due to their distance from home and transportation, so in addition to scholarships, CSF has also awarded 914 bicycles for children at average cost of VND 1, 7 - 2 million each. In addition, CSF annually donates computers to universities, colleges, and intermediate students who have received 5-year scholarships to support their learning.

Children are protected

One of the meaningful activities of CSF is its long-term sponsorship of "for every human heart - a dream come true." According to Trieu, in the face of many orphans, illnesses and family circumstances, there is a particular risk of school dropping out. Since 2014, CSF has mobilized organizations and individuals to sponsor the children to continue their dreams to school. To date, the program has sponsored learning for 131 children with a total cost of more than VND 1.4 billion. In the coming time, CSF will be expanded to include children with autism, Down syndrome, CWD, and children with developmental disabilities so that they can be able to go to school. CSF has also planned to build swimming pools for disadvantaged children in localities to help them exercise and prevent drowning.

Childcare has been on regular basis from time to time. The visit and gift presentation to children in harsh circumstances during Children Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Tet Holiday have been annually organized by CSF as the special gifts to children of special circumstances.
