Binh Duong has continued speeding up propaganda work in a bid to prevent and control over environmental pollution. Since 2011, provincial sector of natural resources and environment has teamed up with relevant agencies to organize more than 150 training courses on environmental protection; honored outstanding individuals and organizations in environmental protection…, contributing to raising public awareness of environmental protection and enhancing the local effectiveness of environmental pollution prevention.

The province has also attached special importance to harmoniously realizing its target on economic growth in association with environmental protection. Particularly, the province has issued support policies for the removal of production facilities causing environmental pollution from residential areas; instructed relevant agencies not to absorb projects with a risk causing environmental pollution, limit to arrange production facilities outside industrial parks and compounds…, thereby greatly contributing to preventing environmental pollution.
In addition, the province has well realized investigation and supervision of the environment. The province made investigation tours of 4,545 units and imposed a total fine of more than VND30mln on 1,315 wrong ones over the past four years. The province has also attached special importance to surveillance work to waste water sources.
Improving environmental quality and pollution is an important task in environmental protection. So far, 263 out of 269 production facilities in the province’s list of facilities causing heavy environmental pollution have fulfilled their pollution improvement. The province has had timely solutions for “hot” places on environmental pollution; forced 30 out of 33 production facilities causing pollution environment to stop operating or remove from residential areas; carried out 13 projects on environmental protection, 8 of which have been fulfilled and put into operation.
According to the assessment of provincial Party Standing Committee, the Program has brought positive results, especially made a change in awareness, responsibility and action of environmental protection in the local entire political system and enterprise community and people from all strata.
The Program has also helped enhance the effectiveness of State administration work in environmental protection. The province’s synchronous and effective investment in environmental projects has contributed to opportunely dealing with problems relating to the environment. The quality of water on Dong Nai, Saigon rivers and canals across the province has been improved a lot.
The province’s exploitation and use of land, minerals and groundwater have been implemented as stipulated, preventing wastefulness of natural resources and minimizing environmental pollution. The province has also attached special importance to biodiversity conservation and scientific application. And there has been an increase on investment capital for environmental protection...
To soon become a centrally-controlled municipality and be one of big industrial hubs of the region by 2020, Binh Duong has strived to firmly keep its target on sustainable socio-economic development towards a green municipality by 2030. To achieve this, in environmental protection, the province will further focus on preventing, curbing and dealing with environmental pollution, improving environmental quality, preserving natural resources and biodiversity; consider people’s health as a top target in this field, be resolute to eliminate projects causing environmental pollution, badly affecting people’s health.
