Defining that taking care of laborers’ material and spiritual lives is a main task, provincial Labor Union has paid special attention to this. Trade Unions at all levels of the province have given the proper care for laborers’ welfare, income, working conditions, housing…, aiming to keep and help them have long attachment with Binh Duong homeland.
Taking care of laborers in both spiritual and material lives
The whole province is now home to nearly 1 million laborers. Province-based enterprises annually need around 45,000-50,000 laborers. Most of laborers herein get stable jobs with the average income of VND5.5million-VND7.5million per capita per month. Trade Unions at all levels of the province have also actively teamed up with provincial Job Placement Center to introduce jobs to laborers.

To deal with laborers’ demand for housing, the province implemented a plan on social housing development for 2011 and 2015. So far, there have been 22 social housing projects put into use, supplying accommodations for 36,860 laborers. Becamex IDC has also put nearly 5,000 social apartments into use and continues building 1,000 others at laborers’ demand for housing. In addition, there have been 225 enterprises building tenement houses for 60,000 laborers with a total area of 300,000 square meters.
Over the past time, provincial Labor Union also organized annual conferences honoring thousands of outstanding laborers in patriotic emulation movements, especially the “Working well, working creatively” movement. The movement contributed to encouraging laborers to uphold technical initiatives, apply sci-tech advancements into production, practice thrift, reduce management costs, raising productivity and quality of products in the local process of international and regional integration. It was also implemented in association with “Continued acceleration of studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals”, contributing to arousing laborers’ responsibility, ardour and creativeness. Last year, provincial Labor Union suggested provincial People’s Committee to award the certificates of merit to more than 500 outstanding laborers.
Such these apart, provincial Labor Union in collaboration with provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs spent VND10.8billion on buying more than 21,000 gifts for needy laborers; teamed up with provincial Department of Culture, Sports-Tourism, Center for Culture-Movie and Traditional Art Troupe to organize 20-30 art performance nights for laborers.
Upholding role of Trade Union
Over the past time, Trade Unions at all levels of the province coordinated with enterprises to present more than 1.18 million gifts valued at more than VD170billion to needy laborers. The “Sentimental bus trip” program supported bus tickets for 3,047 needy laborers to return home for Tet. Trade Union locals of the province also put forward some forms taking care of laborers such as building kindergartens, breast milk cabins; organizing stores with essential goods sold at basis price; visiting ill laborers; monitoring over the quality of mid-shift meals…
Social charity activities continued being promoted among laborers across the province. Trade Unions at all levels of the province also worked with enterprises to organize annual tours and cultural-sports activities for laborers.

But, for better care, provincial Labor Union will suggest the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, provincial People’s Committee to say ok to building cultural centers in areas crowded with laborers; expanding support models for them…
