Morning September 8th, provincial Legal Assistance Center in collaboration with Dau Tieng district Justice Bureau gave legal assistance to over 70 ethnic minority persons in Minh Tan commune.
The center popularized laws taking effect from early 2015, including Civil Status Law. Besides, the center answered questions on problems in life of ethnic minority people.
Minh Tan commune has now 300 ethnic minority households including the majority of Chinese people. In addition to activities of provincial Legal Assistance Center, annually, district Law Disseminating Council popularizes laws and regulations among poor and ethnic minority households. Namely, in August 2015, Legal Assistance groups and clubs of communes in the district offered free legal assistance to 40 civil, land, marriage - family, administrative cases.
Through legal aid activities, the people learned more about their right to claim legal assistance as well as laws on hunger elimination and poverty reduction. Basically, legal aid needs of the poor, ethnic minorities have been handled timely, the quality of free legal services has been improved to protect legitimate rights and interests of the people when disputes arose, contributing to bringing laws to life, raising people’s awareness of compliance with laws.
