Morning November 11, Tran Van Nam, Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly’s delegation, chaired a meeting with Provincial General Hospital. Huynh Thanh Long, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; and representatives of related departments also attended the meeting. At the meeting, Dr. Van Quang Tan, Director of Provincial General Hospital, reported on the hospital activities in 2016 and the first 6 months of 2017. The Provincial General Hospital was recognized as class-1 hospital under Decision No. 3307 / QD-UBND of the provincial People's Committee approved on 17 Dec 2015. The number of sick-beds in 2016 was 1,300 and in was 1,400. The hospital receives an average of 1,500 to 2,000 outpatient visits and gives inpatient treatment to from 1,400 to 1,600 people, gives first aid to 250-300 people per day. In general, due to upgrading and renovation, Provincial General Hospital facilities are spacious, clean and airy. Provincial General Hospital also purchased more equipment, built more treatment areas to reduce overload. However, because of the old, cramped facilities, increasing patient number, the hospital has become overcrowding and does not have enough space for sick-beds. On the other hand, the deficiency of doctors in both quantity and quality, and equipment, (tools, information technology software...) has affected the service quality to patients. Director of Provincial General Hospital also made some proposals to solve the patient overload, shortage of human resources and solve difficulties in the supply of medicines, medical supplies, medical bio-products... After listening to opinions of doctors and representatives of departments, Mr. Nam appreciated the responsible spirit and efforts of the hospital’s medical staff. Mr. Nam agreed with explanation of the problems. At the same time, the Party Secretary asked Provincial General Hospital to review what should be done immediately to submit to provincial leaders for immediate implementation. In addition, the hospital needed to be more active and drastic in planning improvements from material facilities to policies to attract human resources, to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
