Provincial People's Committee leaders inspect actual work of natural disaster prevention and control

On the morning of May 23, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, together with leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors inspected disaster prevention and control work in the province.

Accordingly, the delegation inspected flooded areas on National Highway 13, in front of Tan Hiep Phat Company; flooded areas on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, from Cau Trang to Hang Dua restaurant (Thuan An City); flooded areas at Cong intersection (Thich Quang Duc Street intersects with Phan Dinh Giot, Thu Dau Mot City), where after the province invested in a project to resolve the flooding at Cong intersection, the flooding in the area decreased by over 90% compared to before. The delegation also inspected the flooded area of Suoi Giua toll station and the flooded area of Suoi Tre on National Highway 13 in Ben Cat City.

Through reports and field surveys, Vice Chairman of People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh noted that localities should coordinate with Project Management Board of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Agriculture and Environment and Becamex Industrial Development and Investment Corporation to inspect and review areas that are often deeply flooded during heavy rains and high tides, and post warning signs to inform people.

Besides, it is necessary to regularly dredge canals, sewers, drainage systems, manholes, repair manhole covers, provide safety covers, and prevent accidents caused by flooding; strengthen inspection and management of river, stream, and canal corridors, handle encroachment on water flows, and dredge canals to ensure drainage during the rainy season. When there is a thunderstorm warning, localities dispatch forces to the scene to block, guide, and divert traffic in key areas that are frequently flooded, support people moving in areas with deep flooding and fast-flowing water, and absolutely do not let people move through unsafe areas, limiting accidents and damage when there are floods.
