Provincial Red Cross Society brings joy to needy people

Connecting and sharing love through humanitarian activities has always been a priority for provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels. Through various initiatives and efforts, the organization's humanitarian activities not only provide assistance to disadvantaged individuals striving for a better life, but also help spread the movement of "Good People, Good Deeds – Joining Hands to Build a Compassionate Community".

“Zero-dong market" – spreading love

One of the most effective humanitarian activities maintained by provincial Red Cross Society so far is the "Zero-dong market" model. These heartwarming markets have not only been organized at provincial level, but have also spread widely to districts, communes and even quarters. Wherever these markets take place, the atmosphere is always joyful and warm. The happiness of those receiving support, the heartfelt handshakes between givers and receivers – all contribute to creating a space filled with compassion, where love is shared and multiplied every day.

Upholding results done over the past time, the first months of 2025, especially during the recent Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, saw numerous “Zero-dong market” events delivering thousands of gift packages to those in need. These initiatives not only provided essential goods, but also brought warmth and encouragement to disadvantaged individuals. Carrying forward this mission of spreading love and multiplying joy, on February 27, provincial Red Cross Society, in collaboration with various departments, organizations and donors, hosted another “Zero-dong Market” event. Essential goods were distributed to 500 underprivileged individuals, including members of provincial Blind Association, along with many migrant workers, freelancers and those in need from nine districts and cities who were given the opportunity to shop for necessities at this meaningful market.

At the "Zero-dong market", each participant received VND 500,000 in cash along with essential goods, including groceries, fresh vegetables and daily necessities, with a total value exceeding VND 1 million per gift package. Leaving the market with the abundance of donated goods, shoppers also carried home the joy of being cared for by the Red Cross Society and the warmth of community support, making their lives get more complete.

As one of the beneficiaries of this round of the "Zero-dong market", Huynh Ngoc Tuan, a member of provincial Association for the Blind shared that his family still faces many difficulties, making every bit of support invaluable. "The support package from today's 'Zero-dong market' includes so many things, from essential goods to cash. I’m very happy to receive this practical assistance", Tuan expressed.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thanh Tu, a needy worker from Tan Uyen city shared that such generosity is truly valuable for people with difficult circumstances like him. “I work as a factory worker, but my monthly income is only a few million dong while my family has so many expenses to cover. This support helps ease some of our burdens in life”, Tu said.

The heartwarming and compassionate markets continue being organized monthly by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels, helping ease the financial burdens of many families and providing them with motivation to rise above their challenges. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society stated that in addition to maintaining the "Zero-dong market" at the organization's humanitarian center every month, provincial Red Cross Society has also directed its local branches to expand this model to support disadvantaged individuals. "In addition to providing 'zero-dong' gifts, at these markets, we mobilized resources to support the construction of “Red Cross” houses for those in need, award scholarships to underprivileged students and more. Through these efforts, we hope to instill confidence and motivation in the poor, disadvantaged students and vulnerable groups, enabling them to strive for a better life", Mrs. Trinh shared.

Further supporting those in need of housing

In response to the "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" movement for disadvantaged residents in the province, provincial Red Cross Society provided financial assistance at the event on February 27. A total of VND 1.2 billion was allocated to nine districts and cities, enabling local authorities to construct 15 “Red Cross” houses for households in need of housing.

Mrs. Trinh stated that through this financial support for building “Red Cross” houses in localities, provincial Red Cross Society hopes to receive more contributions from businesses and donors. These additional resources will help the province and the nation effectively implement the emulation movement of "The whole chountry joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025”.

Speaking at the "Zero-dollar market" event, on behalf of provincial leaders, Nguyen Loc Ha, Permanent Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee stated that Binh Duong has effectively implemented policies for revolutionary contributors, social welfare programs and national target programs, especially housing support for disadvantaged households. In response to the emulation movement of "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated Houses", provincial Red Cross Society has provided funding to build 15 “Red Cross” houses, contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of people facing housing difficulties.

On this occasion, Nguyen Loc Ha, Permanent Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee called on all officials, civil servants, public employees, workers, businesses and individuals to uphold the patriotic tradition and continue mobilizing and supporting resources for the Red Cross Society.
