Provincial Red Cross Society organizes practical humanitarian movements, contributing to ensuring social welfare

In 2017, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels organized a variety of humanitarian activities in association with “Studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals”, contributing to ensuring social welfare. This was one of remarkable outcomings mentioned at a conference reviewing activities of provincial Red Cross Society last year held yesterday.

Last year, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels effectively realized many humanitarian activities. Under the campaign of “Each organization, individual should stick to a humanitarian address”, there were 2,162 addresses supported from 10kg of rice to VND2.5million each. For example, Ben Cat town’s Red Cross Society also mobilized 66 organizations, individuals to offer regular support of rice, cash and necessary commodities to 142 disadvantaged people.

Outstanding individuals in the local humanitarian activities last year honored

The movement of building “red cross” houses was actively implemented by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels. Last year, provincial Red Cross Society selected the movement as an emulation movement in celebration of the 10th National Red Cross Society. Provincial Red Cross Society mobilized organizations, individuals to build and donate 20 houses worth VND50million each. District-level Red Cross Societies also constructed 31 “red cross” houses worth between VND40million and VND80million each and upgraded 19 others for needy people.

In addition, the province’s movement of “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” fulfilled 230% of the set target last year. Provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels also got animated with many other practical movements, namely the “Cow bank” project, the movement of “helping each other in economic development”….

Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society said: “Last year, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels will further disseminate the Party’s guidelines, the State’s laws and policies, including the Law on Red Cross; implement the Resolution of the Vietnam Red Cross Society congress for the 2017-2022 tenure; the Resolution of provincial Red Cross Society congresses at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure. They will also continue effectively realizing the movement of “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” 2018, the campaign of “Each organization, individual should stick to an humanitarian address” in association with “Studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle” while mobilizing organizations, individuals to construct “red cross” houses for families with extremely difficult circumstances and boosting a movement of replicating typical humanitarian models…”.
