Locals select necessities at the “humanitarian market-day” in October
Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society said that “humanitarian market-day” is one of new models implemented by the society in 2020, aiming to offer help to disadvantaged people, especially during the current period against Covid-19 pandemic.
Also according to her, the society’s humanitarian activities over the past time received the attention of Party, authorities at all levels, donors and people across the society. They not only shared difficulties with the poor, but also promoted the “Red Cross” movements, contributing to ensuring the local social welfare.
Upholding efficiency
During the initial period against Covid-19 pandemic, the “humanitarian market-day” model was held weekly, aiming to provide free necessities for those who have been affected by the pandemic. The market-day received the support of donors. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, General Director of Thanh Phuong Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company in Di An city’s Dong Hoa ward was one of typical donors at the humanitarian market-day. He said that his company has always paid attention to social charity activities.
Since early this year, provincial Red Cross Society has organized 11 stage delivering free necessities to the poor via the humanitarian market-day. From contributions by businesses, agencies, units and donors, the society has offered 8,150 gifts worth more than VND1.7billion to disadvantaged people. With the support of Van Xuan Real Estate Joint Stock Company, the society has funded more than VND365million for heart surgery of 3 cases with difficult circumstances. The society has also supported VND70million for the construction of a “red cross” house for the family of Le Thi Nga in Thuan An city’s An Son commune…
The efficiency for the “humanitarian market-day” model has been demonstrated via concrete support figures. The model has also contributed to making pervasion about noble deeds among the community.
