Provincial Veterans Associations at all levels over the past 10 years disbursed more than VND117bln in loan mandated from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies for more than 5,500 members. Of the total figure, nearly VND37bln was for poor households; more than VND29.7bln for pupils and students; more than VND39bln for job creation, clean water and environmental hygiene in the rural areas; VND8.67bln for production and business…
Provincial Veterans Associations at all levels also mobilized members to contribute more than VND11.5bln to their working budget. With the attention and help of the association plus their own efforts, many war veterans getting loans escaped poverty over the past time.
The whole association now has 24 enterprises, 2 cooperatives and 34 farmsteads headed by war veterans. Together with Stage budget allocated from provincial Fatherland Front Committee, provincial Veterans Associations at all levels mobilized many other sources to build 352 gratitude houses worth VND7.5bln. So far, provincial Veterans Association has only had below 1% of poor households in the province’s poverty line in 2013.
