*Animated activities celebrate Int’l Women’s Day
Early Mar.8, provincial Women’s Union held a get-together to mark the 106th anniversary of International Women’s Day and the 1,976th anniversary of Trung sisters’ Uprising. Attending the event were Huynh Van Nhi, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee together with leaders of provincial Women’s Union over periods.
At the get-together, delegates reviewed the history and development of International Women’s Day, the undaunted spirit of Trung sisters’ Uprising. Upholding Vietnamese women’s fine tradition, provincial Women’s Union over the past 5 years promoted patriotic emulation movements. There were more than 16,000 women winning the “excellent women” title and 579 awarded the certificates of merit by Women’s Unions at all levels. Nearly 359,000 officials, members and women got involved in studying and following Uncle Ho’s teaching in thrift practice, helping each other reduce poverty with 75 golden saving books, 696 saving groups with nearly VND64bln, 18,864 piggybanks worth more than VND265mln. Under the model of saving VND5trillion launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels mobilized over 131,500 members to contribute over VND86.27bln, supporting over 26,000 sisters to develop production models and stabilize their lives. They also mobilized organizations, individuals to build 124 houses of compassion worth more than VND4bln, award 516 scholarships worth approximately VND1bln to poor members’ offspring with good academic results…
Addressing the get-together, Mr.Hung spoke highly of achievements done by provincial Women’s Unions at all levels over the past time while saying that they needed to further pay attention to law dissemination among women, raise their awareness of gender; attach special importance to training female officials, creating favorable conditions for them to strive and mature.
On this occasion, provincial Women’s Union also launched a special emulation stage entitled “Binh Duong’s women uniting, showing creativeness, emulating to excellently fulfill 2016’s tasks”.
*The same day, Bau Bang district’s Women’s Union also forwarded a get-together to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Under the attention of the Party and State, women in the district well upheld their role in society and life; excelled at the “Women actively studying, creatively working and building up happy families” emulation movement in association with further “studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals”, greatly contributing to the local socio-economic development over the past years.
*The Trade Union of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park, on Mar.8, also held a get-together on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of International Women’s Day and the 1,976th anniversary of Trung sisters’ Uprising.
At the get-together, delegates had a chance to review the glorious tradition of Vietnamese women over periods. In any period, Vietnamese women have always been worthy of the eight golden words “Heroism, undauntedness, loyalty, resourcefulness” presented by Uncle Ho.
They also took part in a talk show on “Beauty of women in the current society” with Dr.Nguyen Huu Long, lecturer of the Psychology Faculty under HCM city’s University of Pedagogy in order to join hands to build up happy families and well bring up children.
*On Mar.8, Tan Uyen town’s Labor Union kicked off a contest on karaoke singing and flower arrangement with the participation of 37 teams from trade union locals.
The contest aimed to create a useful playground for the town’s trade unionists in general and female employees in particular on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
