Provincial Women’s Union last year actively responded to the special emulation program named “Building houses of compassion for poor, single, disabled and difficult women and presenting scholarships to difficult poor-but-excellent students”.
As a result, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels and provincial Businesswomen’s Club mobilized organizations and individuals to build and hand over 75 houses of compassion with a total expense of VND2.3bln to poor women; award 268 scholarships worth VND536 to those who are children of members and workers with difficulties.
Tran Thi Muoi Bay, vice-chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said: With the spirit of “The good leaves protect the worn-out leaves”, the program has received an enthusiastic response from the local Women’s Unions at all levels, creating favorable conditions for poor women to overcome difficulties and pupils with extremely difficult circumstances to further pursue their learning.
Capital support
Along with charitable activities, provincial Women’s Union has instructed its affiliates to raise the effectiveness of activities to help women develop homebased business, rise up out of poverty and enrich themselves in a proper way.
Provincial Women’s Unions at al levels last year helped 28,000 turns of women to get a total loan of VND110bln. Particularly, 8,843 well-off women offered help of more than VND19bln to 11,188 turns of needy women under the program “Women helping each other to develop homebased business”. Provincial Women’s Union also mobilized donors to raise VND2.6bln to the program “Saving Day for Poor Women” while helping needy women to get loans on credit from many different sources for economic development. By many forms, the local Women’s Unions at all levels offered help to 100% of poor women and 4,657 poor women get loans. Consequently, there were 1,879 female-headed households escaping poverty.
Such these apart, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have paid attention to giving vocational training for women and introducing jobs to them, helping them have a stable life. They last year introduced jobs to 6,451 women. Provincial Women’s Job Placement Center also provided 1,178 women with vocational consultancy and jobs…
Through many significant activities, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have contributed to helping poor women rise up in life.
